Kara Scott | Professional Poker Player

Kara Scott was born in Alberta, Canada but moved to England in 1999. In 2002, Kara Scott has been working in the UK in media as a sports presenter for "Now is the Time: Night of Combat", hostess of the first series of the 2006 World Series of Backgammon, one of the hosts of "Poker Night Live" and many other shows. She has also written columns for magazines such as "Flush," "Poker Player Magazine," "CardPlayer Magazine," "UK Poker News" and "Gambling Online magazine."

Up until 2008, Kara Scott was a popular face on Sky Poker. In August 2008, Scott announced that she planned to leave Sky Poker in order to focus on being a professional poker player. Not satisfied with just reading prepared scripts, Scott immersed herself in all aspects of the game and quickly became an expert in the game’s strategy. Her knowledge of the complex relationship between odds, instinct and guts made her a natural fit for poker, which was the next turn her career would take.

Kara's Poker Background

After having been a presenter on television for poker and other televised gambling events, Kara Scott decided to focus on becoming a professional poker player. She had already begun in late 2007 when she won the celebrity heat of the PartyPoker.net World Women's Open. She placed 6th in the final for that event. Since that time, Scott has continued to win. As of 2009 she has won in excess of $550,000 from live poker tournaments. While Scott was part of the poker world for a long time as a presenter and was even a well-recognized face in poker, she has not, in fact, been a professional poker player for very long.

Kara's Poker Career

In 2008, Scott won the PartyPoker Sports Star Challenge. Also in 2008, she placed 104th in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) $10,000 buy-in no limit hold'em Main Event to win $41,816.

In 2009, Scott placed second at the Irish Open to win €312,600. At the 2009 WSOP Main Event, Scott finished in 238th place winning $32,963. Scott was the only woman to have played in both the 2008 and 2009 WSOP Main Event and to cash in, in both of them.

As of the starting of 2009, Kara Scott is now part of Team Party. She connects titles for example Felipe Ramos, Stewart Scott, Ian Frazer, Bodo Sbrzesny, Remy Biechel and Mike Sexton. Kara Scott is the first woman on Team Party. Scott, a native of Canada, regardless of having lived within the UK for a large percentage of her mature individual life, designs to comprise Party Poker in Canada and take part in several imminent Canadian Poker Tour events. This deal permits Scott to play professional poker and to be a presenter for the site, a blend that she assertions to be stimulated about. Using her proficiencies and skills as a presenter and her talent for playing poker, Scott is certain to be an asset to her new sponsors, Party Poker.

Poker as a Woman

Kara Scott was the only poker girl to cash in from both the 2008 and the 2009 WSOP Main Events. In Fact, she is only the second woman in history to cash in from back-to-back WSOP events. She is also the only woman to represents Party Poker as part of Team Party.
